As part of its mission, ONE (SINGAPORE) is organizing
a 24-hour football event on 8 - 9 December 2006 called ONE (FOOTBALL)
2006.
Where: The Cage (www.thecage.com.sg)
Start Date/Time: 7.00pm on 8th December 2006
End Date/Time: 7.00pm on 9th December 2006
There will be a maximum of 70 teams of 5 players per team involved in this football event along with supporters of each team and members of the general public.
A football event lasting 24 hours will be held at The Cage. Each team will play for a minimum of 3 matches. A total maximum of 70 teams will be invited to participate in this event including:

Local celebrity Teams
- A Parliamentary Team
- A team selected
by the President of ONE (SINGAPORE)
- Children’s / youth’s Teams
- Ladies’ /
men’s Teams
- Teams consisting of physically
disabled players
Trophies / prizes will be awarded
for various activities such as:
- Winner of each tournament
- Correctly guessing the total
number of goals scored in the 24 hours, etc
An opening and closing ceremony is planned at which the objectives of ONE (SINGAPORE), MILK and the Aceh Livelihood Project will be outlined, plus prizes will be awarded in the various categories to be identified.
We have launched this event on Thursday 9th November on the "Football
Crazy" show screened on ESPN Star Sports channel at 8pm. Other
event promotion activities will take place including exposure
on Class95 FM and other media channels.

OBJECTIVE
- To raise public awareness of global poverty issues, including the extent of poverty and root causes.
- To educate the public on the Millenium Development Goals, a set of time bound targets to halve abject poverty by 2015 and eradicate it by 2025.
- To encourage charitable giving and volunteer service (time, resources,"in-kind" and financial donations), specifically to organizations tackling poverty
- To collect eyeglasses for IN FOCUS, a project that donates spectacles to those who can not afford to purchase them /span>
- ONE (SINGAPORE) will donate proceeds from the event to two charities: Mainly I Love Kids (MILK) and the Aceh Livelihood Project.
